Hearts and Horses 501c3 has moved to a Weebly site so that more of our funding can go directly to our students
Hearts and Horses offers financial assistance for low income families primarily in Stevens and Spokane counties.
In May 2024 we received a grant from the Innovia Foundation!
We offer a program that makes a positive difference. A Japanese study conducted in 2017, scientifically proved that the movement of the horse has enormous behavioral and health benefits, in addition to the discipline and courage that is required to ride.
Hearts and Horses' program creates cognitive and social development, improved community integration, life skills, and improved decision making.
While we do accommodate mildly autistic and handicapped, our main focus is on the training of low income children to excel in horsemanship, utilizing skills needed to become successful adults.
With highly qualified instructors, amazing school horses, and a wonderful volunteer base to help us accomplish these goals, our program creates a positive environment for low income children to succeed in life with drive and passion.

For Hearts and Horses funding first time applicants:
The Board of Directors awards funding to low income youth and families. Donations, grants, fundraising and corporate support makes this possible. Anyone who seeks quality horsemanship and learning may apply. Financial qualifications are determined by the guidelines used for the federal lunch program. If you qualify for free lunch, you will qualify for our program. The Board of Directors will then judge your application for acceptance. Hearts and Horses does not own horses. The organization rents horses with lesson instruction, from Legacy Farm and Stable LLC. Financially eligible students are supported at the rate of $40.00 per lesson. Families may pay the remaining $25.00 per lesson or else the student may "Work it off" by helping with horse care and cleaning at the direction of Legacy Farm and Stable staff. Maximum supported lessons are five per month. There is no "lesson credit" or carryover into the next month. |
